Merry 2008 from the Gates'

It's been a great year in 2008. It's flown by, but we have some great memories to share.

Craig turned 50 this year. Yes, that's right... 50! We celebrated with a night at the University of Louisville football game and extensive tailgating. Minus the rain and the loss, it was a great night. Craig &
Jola also moved their boat Water Gates to the State Dock on Lake Cumberland; a daunting task but a successful one. Most of the summer (as much as work permitted) was spent lake-side having fun and relaxing.

Jola, a recent graduate of Northwood University, has been toiling with the idea of pursuing her Master's or Doctorate degree but hasn't committed just yet. After 27 years of marriage, Jola and Craig took a much needed, much overdue trip to Hawaii (above) this fall and had a great time. Although the stay wasn't long, it was rejuvenating.

Remember that cute condo Brandi bought last winter? Well, she's made an addition... Homer, a large 1 year old Lab-Boxer mix. Her home has suffered at the paws of this "wrecking ball" (as Craig calls him). Nevertheless, its getting better all the time. After graduating with her Master's in the spring, Brandi has been teaching Spanish. In her 3rd year teaching, she accepted a new job just south of Louisville in Bullitt County. It has been a great change! Following in Craig's footsteps, Chad recently started his new career as a Certified Flight Instructor in southern Indiana. He is very happy with his new job and plans to move into an apartment in downtown Louisville with a friend soon. Chad is also preparing to finish his final classes for his degree. He transferred from Eastern Kentucky University to Embry Riddle's satellite campus in Louisville.

We wish you all the greatest this Christmas. May the birth of our Lord bring compassion and joy to your hearts and to your homes. And have a great year in 2009! Please write us back on this blog and tell us of your news!
